WHAT: End Hunger Connecticut! is welcoming all East Hartford families to come together for summer fun and to kick off awareness of the CT Summer Meals program. Our office is close to two meal sites that participate in the CT Summer Meals program. The event will feature free food, community organization tables, activities, performers and more. Press and media outlets are welcome to cover this event. EHC! will have photo/video release forms available for children under the age of 18.

WHEN: Saturday, June 24th, 2023 @ 11 AM – 3 PM (Rain Date Sunday, June 25th)

WHERE: End Hunger Connecticut! Office Parking Lot | 800 Connecticut Boulevard, East Hartford, CT 06108

Interview/photo ops:

Michael P. Walsh, Mayor of East Hartford, will be available immediately following the kick-off speeches at 11 AM

Jason Jakubowski, President and CEO of Connecticut Foodshare, will be available immediately following the kick-off speeches at 11 AM

Julieth Callejas, Executive Director of End Hunger Connecticut!, will be available immediately following the kick-off speeches at 11 AM

Various community leaders, partners and businesses are confirmed to participate at the kick-off event.

Summer Meals are offered at hundreds of sites around the state from June to late August, serving combinations of breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. 

About CT Summer Meals

The CT Summer Meals Program is federally funded by the USDA and state-administered by the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE). The program provides free, nutritious meals to kids during summer break. Summer Meals meet federal nutrition guidelines and are composed of milk, fruits, vegetables, grains, and meat or another protein. Summer Meals are offered at hundreds of sites around the state from June to late August, serving combinations of breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. Meals are free to any child age 18-and-under, no questions asked. For additional information visit www.ctsummermeals.org.
