HARTFORD — End Hunger Connecticut! is a statewide anti-hunger and food security organization that helps to overcome food insecurity, hunger and move families toward self sufficiency. Lucy Nolan, Executive Director of End Hunger Connecticut! joined FOX 61 Good Day Connecticut to talk about their summer meals program.
There are more than 600 Summer Meals locations in communities across the state where children and teens can go during the summer to get free, nutritious meals.
Many locations also offer activities for the children, making it a positive social experience. Families can find Summer Meals locations in their community, including hours of operation and meals served, by visiting CTSummerMeals.org, calling 2-1-1, or texting “CTMeals” to 877-877.
On average, only 1 in 4 children who receive free or reduced-price school lunch participate in the Summer Meals Program.
